The Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Michael Grant joins ’80s TV hunks Tom Wopat of The Dukes of Hazzard and Trapper John M.D.’s Gregory Harrison in the film Fair Haven. Grant takes on his first gay role in the independent drama. He’ll play a young man who’s concluded a sexual orientation conversion program but still struggles with pretending to be heterosexual. Upon returning to the family farm he realizes that he can no longer meet the expectations of his distant father or stop the memories of a prior loving relationship.
The 1980s animated series Jem is being revamped and modernized for the big screen. Currently being called Jem and the Holograms, like the cartoon it is centered on Jerrica Benton, the secret leader of the glamorous band Jem and the Holograms. G.I.Joe: Retaliation director John M. Chu is heading this project, which will star Sixteen Candles’ Molly Ringwald, Due Date’s Juliette Lewis, Nashville‘s Aubrey Peebles and Pretty Little Liars’ Ryan Guzman.
American Horror Story’s Taissa Farmiga will be kicking ass in director Ti West’s In A Valley of Violence. The Western-themed story offers Ethan Hawke as a drifter pursing the hoodlums who killed his best friend. Farmiga is a hotel proprietor and offers her help to the drifter.
Farmiga can also be seen in a rare project—Warren Beatty‘s next film. So far untitled, the plot surrounds Howard Hughes and an affair he had in his later life with a much younger woman. Farmiga is joined by The Blind Side’s Lily Collins, Friends with Better Lives’ Brooklyn Decker, Smash‘s Megan Hilty, Beautiful Creatures‘ Alden Ehrenreich and Beatty’s wife Annette Benning.
