These ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Dolls Are Wicked Works of Genius

January 21, 2015 · by Frontiers Staff

The circle of jaded alcoholics I call friends and I have the opinion that this season’s American Horror Story offering, Freak Show, paled in comparison to the jaw-dropping gorgeousness of last season’s Coven. Maybe it was the smallness of Francis Conroy’s role, or the abundance of accents. Maybe it was Florida, or maybe it was Patti LaBelle. Who can say? What is certain is that the sideshow lacked the magic of those New Orleans witches.

Last December, fashion doll manufacturer Integrity Toys announced a release of dolls based on the magical characters of Coven.

Why dolls based on a horror anthology? some may wonder. Integrity’s designer Vaughn Sawyers responds, “As soon as we saw the show on TV, we were mesmerized. The characters, the exciting costumes and the overall feel of the show are just a perfect fit for us to memorialize in miniature.”

Expected to begin shipping this summer, no sneak-peeks have been released from Integrity, leaving fans and collectors in a state of high anticipation.

In the meantime, though, insanely talented artist and photographer Plastic Beauty channeled an obsession with all things Barbie into his own vision of the Coven ladies portrayed in plastic, and I could not be more impressed. To quote Jessica Lange‘s Fiona Goode, “Give me more!”
