Australian jeweler Michael Hill was one of the companies willing to spend millions on a Super Bowl TV ad, and it took the chance to make an ad that is explicitly gay-inclusive, following in the footsteps of Coke last year.
The ‘We’re for Love’ campaign saw the jeweler approach more than 1,200 New Yorkers to ask them about love, before narrowing it down to 30 for the final ads, including gay couples.
The short version of the ad – aired during the game in Canada and Chicago – briefly features a lesbian couple, but the longer version features several shots of gay couples and announces:
“Young love, old love, motherly love, straight love, gay love, forbidden love, brotherly love. It seals love, nurtures, creates and declares love for all the world to see.
We don’t care what kind of love you’re into – we just want to make sure you get your fair share.”
