Rosali Cleaners, a dry cleaner on Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood, has been accused of homophobia after allegedly calling a customer a “buggerer” and “sodomite” among other abuse.
Byron Batista first visited Rosali Cleaners to have four throw pillows laundered. When he returned to collect them, three had been properly cleaned but the fourth was torn and damaged. When Batista complained, he received a surprising response. The owner “blamed me and said I tore them apart all the while running around behind her counter, flipping me off and pretending to stick her finger in her backside.”
Batista wasted no time in taking the dry cleaner to court, where a judge ruled that he was owed damages. So far, so good, until Batista received his check – made out to ‘Byron “the buggerer” Batista’.
“I went back to court and showed the judge,” Batista told Frontiers. “He sent her out another letter asking her for a cashiers check with the proper spelling.” This is what he received:
Batista wanted to share his story to “let our community know that they should not spend their money there,” he explained. “People like her need to be exposed.”
